Auris Wooden Xylophones.

Xylophone is Greek  and comes from the two words; “Xylos” – which means "wood" and "phonos" which means "sound"  and is a word that in everyday language covers a whole family of instruments, having the one thing in common that they have wooden bars that you strike with a mallet when you play.

The story about Auris xylophones begins, as by any Auris Instrument, with the lust to create good musical sound and in doing this also find the perfect balance between the tone, the look of the instrument and the way it feels when you touch it.

We always strive to stimulate and harmonize all the senses involved in the process when you play, not only the sense of hearing. All the senses are alwaysactive in everything that we do and if we do not take this in to consideration, we miss a great opportunity to help the spiritual and the senso-motorical growth oh the whole human being.

It has been proven by science that the more you open and activate the senses trough music, the stronger the general capability of learning and understanding of theoretical subjects too. This knowledge is used in various education systems trough out the world, one of the most known is theRudolf Steiner schools.

The Xylophone group of instruments are especially good to practice the rhythmic element of music. This has, as you train to use both hands (also the feet can be used to emphasise or add rhythmic elements) a strong liberating influence of the senso-motoric development and stimulates the independent use of the two brain halves which has a very positive effect on creativity and cognition.

But most important, It all begins with the lust to good musical sound and in this case particularly the lust to play rhythmical tunes.
Auris makes three different types of xylophones.
They are all signified by their clear sonorous sound and good tuning.
The choice of wood and the shape will inspire to a joy and playful music making.
The xylophones

The smallest type we have called "Xylophone" since the instrument with this high pitch is the type that is called so in the classic music literature.  We produce it in four different sizes,  7 tones pentatonic  d''-e''' # XRP-007,  8 tones diatonic c''-c'''  # XRD-008    12 tones diatonic a'-e''' # XRD-012 and   20 tone chromatic  a'-e''' # XRK-020.
These xylophones in the higher tuned range do bring out the melodic side of the rhythm while it is so clearly heard on top of the other deeper instruments. It is also perfect in school orchestras especially if you play with extra hard mallets they will be easily heard among rather loud instruments. The tone bars are made from the very full sounding material Akazia the best sounding wood that das not grow in tropic forests. Akazia is planted under control by the authorities in European countries, mostly in Hungary. The frame are made from Swedish Birch.

The marimba
The middle size instrument group we call "Marimba". One octave deeper with a full, warm and smooth but yet percussive tone.
Can be used for very many purposes. Maybe the most flexible instruments of our xylophones. Suitable for "baby music" as well as pro-musicians. They are available in three different sizes,  8 tones pentatonic h-e'' # XPL-008
8 tone diatonic c'-c'' # XDL-008     11 tone diatonic h-e''   # XDL-011
Tone bars from Akazia and the box from Swedish Pine tree.
