A basic pentatonic lyre for introduction of music to the child. For use at home, in the kindergarten by musical games and storytelling and much more, only your imagination sets the limit.
The string order.

The strings on the LGP lyre are arranged so that the longest/deep strings are nearer to the body of the player and the shorter/high are further away this leads to a natural correlation between the child’s hand movement – inwards/outwards and the movement of the scale – descending / ascending. You move the hand away and the scale goes up/out into the periphery and you move your hand in to the body and the scale goes down into the deeper more physical range. If you try to “throw” the scale to your partner with an up/outgoing movement of your hand and the partner try to “catch” the scale that comes “flying” you will experience the natural feeling in this order. If you do the same with the strings turned the other way around you will get a strange experience and the tones will not “fly” but fall down in front of your feet.
Moreover, this arrangement of the strings corresponds with the “falling” tendency by the pentatonic scale which means the in most pentatonic music the individual musical motives has a down-going direction which by lyre will have a natural support while strumming or plucking the strings inwards/downwards which is the way the hand automatically moves on the lyre.
In spite of it unique strings order this lyre can very well be used in children’s groups where some children have pentatonic lyres where the strings are “the other way around”. For the child there will be NO confusion, the confusion, if any, always lays by the grown ups. Children of this age are extremely flexible and love to swop and try each other’s instrument which they always manage with out any problem. Open heart – open mind – the fundament of all creativity.
